Most motorists understand that cold temperatures affect standard CV boots, causing them to turn stiff and brittle when the thermometer drops. However, few realise quite how severe the issue really is. As many car manufacturers increasingly switch to plastic or thermoplastic elastomeric boots, the problem becomes even worse.

Admittedly, this is a completely unscientific test, but illuminating nonetheless. The difference compared to a silicone CV boot is starkly obvious. Is anyone still wondering why CV boots crack during the winter..?
